Willowgate trout fishery- The open day was a great sucess today. Even with the blustery wind good numbers of anglers turned out. Special interest were the spey casting demonstrations and the casting competition. The fishing was steady with some good catches for those who battled the breeze. The included a 11lb rainbow for Greg Donnelly and a nice 4lb brown for young Macauley. Unlucky to Hugh who after fighting a massive brown estimated at 15lb for 20 mins lost it at the net. Better luck next time round. the fish covered 10 pegs before coming unnder control. We currently have a lot of big fish in Willowgate. Some are over 20lb and won't evade capture for long.
