Willowgate trout fishery- Some pictures of the most recent arrivals at the fishery. Both parents are happy to come close their youngsters. Only a few days old they don't really get much more cute than these guys. Hopefully they survive the attentions of predators and add to the good work already being done with mute swans on the river by Dago and David at Tay Salmon.

Willowgate trout fishery- Magic dry fly action

Willowgate trout fishery- Below is a cracking 7lb brownie caught this morning by Bob Dryburgh on dry fly. Overcast warm conditions and a gentle breeze encouraged hatches of buzzers and the fish were responding. Black cdc shuttlecocks were doing the damage in size 14's. Along with the buzzers there were plenty of alder and hawthorn fly making surface tactics the way to go.

Buzzers, nymphs and dries are picking out the resident fish and the more recent stockies are still suckers for the leaded blobs, millenium bugs and rabbits in various shades of black

Some recent catches over the last week;

Tullibody Inn Anglers (4 rods) - 16 fish for 48lbs plus 12 returned
Mr Pettigrew - 4 fish for 16.5lbs
Mick Leo - 3 fish for 9lbs plus 14 returned
Mr Cook - 2 fish for 12.5lb including one at 8lb
Donald Stewart - 3 fish for 13lbs including one at 8.5lb
Harry Robertson - 2 fish for 10lb

Martin had a wee cast on Friday night when he was supposed to be working and connected with this fella on a size 14 Yellow Owl Culdy.

Willowgate trout fishery- Summer jobs are beginning at the fishery as the vegetation takes advantage of the increasingly warm weather and bursts to life. Our new weed cutter will be a valuable tool this year helping us keep the pond neat and tidy. Soon the bankside vegetation will take off again. We are looking forward to seeing the fishery mature this year.
