Willowgate trout fishery- We will be double stocking in coming weeks as we get ready for the winter competitions. The first of these on the 13th of November is fully booked but Martin Smith is organising another for December. Give us a ring at the fishery for more details.

Willowgate trout fishery- The autumn colours are beautiful at the fishery just now. The fishing has been good with trout smashing fry all through the day. Mini lures are GH nymphs are catching most of the fish, but buzzers and dries are still effective.

Willowgate trout fishery- Cold Autumn mornings

Willowgate trout fishery- The loch is throwing up some cracking conditioned fish just now with fry on the menu for autumn feeding trout. Fishing mini lures and gold head nymphs are resulting in some crunching takes. Bloodworm and buzzers are also featuring heavily in the catch returns. Willowgate Fishery - Casting School

Orlaith Joy caught her first fish at the Willowgate today. A lovely 2lb rainbow which she caught on a Yellow Blob. Orlaith's dad booked her in for an hours casting instruction where she quickly mastered the art on a chilly and still morning.

Willowgate Fishery - More Big Fish!

Today we stocked up with some cracking blues, rainbows and browns including this brownie of about 8lbs.
Buzzers are still taking the most fish at the moment but there's still fun to be had with the CDC and most sedge patterns.

Willowgate trout fishery- Busy weekend at the fishery

Willowgate trout fishery- It was another busy weekend at the trout fishery with 65 rods fishing during Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the Mayfly angling club landed 17 for 37lb plus plenty released. Jonny Tod landed 19 on a catch and release ticket and James Lister had another huge catch landing 22. The trout are still very active in the cooling water temperatures with buzzers accounting for the largest catches. Blue trout are also featuring heavily in catches. Willowgate trout fishery- The trout have been very active in the last few days with plenty being caught on dry flies in the clear water. A good pair of polaroids will help you stalk some of the big resident fish.

 

 

Willowgate Fishery - Ready for the weekend

Today saw some pretty horrid weather which seemed to put the fish down a bit to begin with and as the day went on conditions got worse. But fish were taken, mainly on the Buzzer as Mr Graham proved with these two for six pound. Later on and as things cleared up there was a huge amount of surface activity where again a wee Sedgehog was working well on the top.
Our weed boat has been out again this week and more Blues and Rainbows arrived today!
