Willowgate Fishery - Cafe

Our Chef Craig has been serving up some Game dishes over the last few weeks. We do a Game special every day aswell as all our yummy stuff on the cafe menu. Last week was Rabbit and this week is Pigeon.
Also on this blog is willowgate regular Magnus, into a fish taken on a Hare's ear in freezing conditions.

Willowgate trout fishery- The air temperature is starting to tumble shoaling the trout up. If you find the right peg big catches can be made.

 

 

Willowgate trout fishery- weekend report

Willowgate trout fishery- There were some great catches at the fishery over the weekend with trout being caught in big numbers. On Saturday Mr McColm and Mr Taylor had 33 between them with most of the fish falling to yellow dancers and damsels.James Lister and Greg Donnelly had 20+ each on catch and release. White lures on slow glass line or blobs under the bung accounted for most of their fish. Young Alfred Drummond Herdman had 2 for 4lb including 1 on a damsel which is the first fly he had ever tied. Well done young man!! On Sunday Mr Evandon had 3 for 6lb and returned 6. Mr Henderson had 2 for 4.5lb. Brian Williams had 10 on catch and release on the blob and bung.

All ready for the weekend with more fish put in tonight.Yellow blobs were doing pretty well today fished 2 -3 foot under an indicator. Fish also took Polar Bear and Black Fritz aswell as CDC as we had a hatch on and off all day as the sun broke through.

As the weather continues to get colder the takes continue to get harder. Our Blue trout tend to go like rockets anytime but when they follow and take a stripped lure at this time of year you need to hang on!

Willowgate trout fishery- We are undertaking some upgrading work on the pathway to Perth. We have put in drainage to keep the path dry and have widened the route to make future upgrading easier. We hope the path will be well used as it is an attractive walk from the town.

Willowgate trout fishery- As winter is here we have time to work on improvements to the fishery. The boat peninsula is getting raised and gravelled to allow us to raise the water level of the pond.
