Willowgate trout fishery- Weekend report

Its a blustery day today at Willowgate but plenty of fishers are braving the conditions. Catches have been good over the last few days. Catches included Robin Hutton who released 4 including one at 7lb. William Dorran released a good fish at 12lb. Mr Sutherland had 2 for 10lb. Catch and release anglers are enjoying plenty of sport with good numbers figuring in most catches. As the water temperatures begin to rise fish are switching heavily onto natural food items. Size 16 buzzers being very effective. During the morning fish are being caught readily in the surface layers on shallow tactics on floating lines. During the middle of the day as the sun is getting stronger fishing pressure will usually put the fish a bit deeper so a change to an intermediate reaps rewards. By late afternoon a floating line becomes more effective again. As always it is very important to find fishes depth. Also the recent rise in water temperature has encouraged fish to chase fast moving lures, so expect strong takes and keep leader BS over 6lb.
